She´s In The Trees are an alt. folk band hailing from Liverpool. Described as “haunting and ethereal” by their Madrid based label, their sound is dreamy and atmospheric; wistful, emotive and highly melodic. Amy’s songwriting is inspired by the British and American folk music she grew up listening to, a passion for storytelling, and a fascination with the host of intriguing characters, misfits & outcasts she has met during a lifetime of travelling.
In 2021 after years in rural Andalucía and a long lockdown spent writing songs, lead singer Amy Scott-Samuel returned to her native Liverpool in search of musical collaborators. The stars quickly aligned, bringing her and guitarist Jules Watts together to form She’s in the Trees, soon completing the lineup with third member Tristan Apperley (violin and bass).
Like Carson McCullers’ novel of the same name, the songs on She´s In The Trees debut album ‘The Heart is a Lonely Hunter’ paint a frank portrait of human experience, of rapture fleeting and the joyous yet painful complexity of simply being.
Amy explains: “Written during a period of upheaval and transition, these songs were born out of a need for emotional order & clarity of mind – but also from a craving for reverie & escape. Much like the characters in McCullers stories, each track treads a perilous path: marked by potholes, forks in the road, trials and errors, joys and sorrows. Inextricably woven through each of these tales is the thread of emotional experience.”
